Microsoft Adds AI Agents to Sales and Marketing Tools in Dynamics 365

Microsoft has introduced AI agents directly into its Dynamics 365 sales and marketing software, shifting the focus from manual data review to real-time guidance. The new capabilities, called Agentic Sales and Agentic Customer Insights, let sales teams automate routine tasks and respond to customer signals faster.

The update includes three new contact center AI agents and several tools designed to reduce administrative work for sales professionals.

What Agentic Sales Does

Agentic Sales pulls signals from email, meetings, CRM records, and collaboration tools to monitor deal progress automatically. Instead of sellers reviewing dashboards, the system flags risks, highlights positive momentum, and recommends next steps in real time.

The system includes four new tools:

  • Sales Opportunity Agent: Monitors each deal continuously, flagging risks and positive engagement patterns so teams don't manually review data.
  • Sales Research Agent: Analyzes pipeline health and forecasting by aggregating data from multiple sources, identifying risks and overcommitted deals.
  • Data Enrichment: Automatically updates CRM records by cross-referencing existing data with signals from emails, meetings, and interactions, reducing manual entry.
  • Voice to CRM: Lets sellers update records by speaking instead of typing, converting speech into structured CRM updates immediately after customer interactions.

A fifth feature, Recommended Actions, translates insights into specific guidance within the seller's workflow, surfacing the most relevant action based on the current state of leads and opportunities.

For sales managers, the system provides a more accurate view of pipeline health and risk, improving forecasting. For customers, faster and more relevant responses mean fewer repeated explanations and more timely interactions.

Agentic Customer Insights Shifts Marketing From Static to Adaptive

This second capability turns customer data into real-time, interactive experiences. Instead of marketers designing fixed journeys and waiting for responses, the platform enables ongoing conversations that adapt based on customer behavior.

A new tool called Conversational Journeys allows teams to design multi-step experiences with two-way AI conversations rather than one-way messages, now extending across voice and SMS. AI agents handle common requests automatically and escalate to humans only when necessary.

Marketers can trigger reminders, reorders, or loyalty offers directly inside a conversation, and the system adjusts in real time based on customer replies. This reduces reliance on batch campaigns and drives immediate engagement.

Real-World Application

Nick Segger, Head of Sales and Agency Transformation for NFU Mutual, said the AI-driven data enrichment will improve the quality and completeness of customer data in Dynamics. "Reducing administration for every person on the sales teams while improving our ability to action, analyze, and improve customer outcomes," he said.

Both capabilities operate within Microsoft's broader CX stack, connecting data, signals, and actions to help teams anticipate customer needs and maintain momentum across every stage of engagement.
