Mississippi Teams Up with NVIDIA to Grow AI Education and Workforce Skills
The State of Mississippi has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with NVIDIA to broaden AI education, encourage research partnerships, improve workforce development, and stimulate economic progress.
Governor Tate Reeves highlighted the importance of this partnership: “By expanding AI education and investing in workforce development, we are opening pathways to valuable careers in AI and cybersecurity for Mississippians. These fields represent the jobs of the future and will influence our economy for generations.”
Key Goals of the Partnership
- Expanding AI Education: Mississippi will work with NVIDIA and the Mississippi Artificial Intelligence Network (MAIN) to introduce AI programs across community colleges, universities, and technical schools. These programs will provide certifications, hands-on training, and curricula focused on AI, machine learning, and data science skills.
- Strengthening Workforce Development: Training programs will be created for educators and professionals, with special attention given to underserved and rural communities to make AI and cybersecurity education widely accessible.
- Boosting Economic Growth: The state plans to use NVIDIA’s expertise to help businesses implement AI and machine learning solutions, improving productivity and sustainability in key industries.
- Fostering Broad Engagement: Outreach will involve diverse groups, including small businesses and community organizations, to build a strong statewide AI ecosystem.
- Encouraging Innovation and Research: Joint projects between MAIN and industry leaders will focus on challenges in agriculture, healthcare, energy, and security.
Governor Reeves also mentioned that Mississippi will lead AI-driven economic initiatives aimed at attracting tech-focused businesses and enhancing research capabilities. Funding will support educational infrastructure, digital access, and workforce training, especially targeting economically disadvantaged and rural areas.
In partnership with Mississippi’s higher education institutions, NVIDIA will help develop AI training programs, integrate resources from the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute, and offer practical learning experiences.
