Most Sales Teams Use Multiple AI Tools, But Trust Remains Low
Seventy-six percent of sales professionals use five or more AI tools regularly, according to a survey of hundreds of sales workers. The widespread adoption masks a deeper problem: most teams don't trust what these tools produce.
Only 2% of respondents said they fully trust AI outputs. The rest operate in "trust but verify" mode, meaning they check AI-generated work before using it with customers or prospects.
Fifty-eight percent of sales professionals are occasionally or often disappointed by their AI tools. Hallucinations-where AI generates false information-and confusing interfaces top the list of complaints.
Tool Sprawl Creates Friction
Sales teams are accumulating too many point solutions. The survey found that teams using five or more AI tools face integration headaches and duplicate functionality, creating what vendors call "tool bloat."
Consolidation may be the answer. Platforms that combine multiple functions into a single interface could gain traction if they reduce hallucinations and simplify workflows.
AI Skepticism Is Growing Despite Wider Use
Thirty-two percent of respondents have grown more skeptical of AI over the past five years, even as adoption has increased. This suggests that early hype hasn't matched real-world performance.
When asked about AI sales representatives specifically, only 7% see them as the future. Forty-eight percent view AI as best suited for repetitive administrative work, not core selling activities.
What Sales Teams Actually Want
The survey points to clear priorities for AI vendors: reduce hallucinations, simplify user interfaces, and build in human oversight. Vendors that address these pain points will have an advantage over those offering narrow solutions.
For sales professionals, this environment creates opportunity. Learning how to evaluate and integrate AI tools effectively-rather than adopting everything available-can improve productivity without adding complexity.
