NEC to Deploy Claude AI Across 30,000 Employees as Japan's First Anthropic Partner
NEC Corporation will integrate Claude across its workforce and become Anthropic's first Japan-based global partner, the companies announced April 24. The deployment will reach approximately 30,000 NEC Group employees worldwide.
The partnership centers on building what NEC describes as one of Japan's largest AI-native engineering organizations. NEC will establish a Center of Excellence to develop internal technical capabilities, supported by training from Anthropic.
Products for Japanese Market
NEC and Anthropic will jointly develop industry-specific AI solutions for finance, manufacturing, and local government sectors. The tools will be integrated into NEC BluStellar Scenario, NEC's program offering consulting, AI tools, security, and digital infrastructure to businesses.
Claude will be incorporated into NEC's Security Operations Center services to help customers defend against sophisticated cybersecurity threats. The AI will also be integrated into NEC's next-generation cybersecurity offerings.
Internal Deployment and Engineering Focus
NEC engineers will use Claude Code in their development work. The company will also expand use of Claude Cowork across internal business operations as part of its Client Zero initiative, where NEC tests technology internally before offering it to customers.
Toshifumi Yoshizaki, executive officer and COO of NEC Corporation, said the partnership "enables NEC to maximize the potential of AI in the Japanese market" while meeting safety and reliability standards demanded by Japanese companies and public administration.
Claude deployment to NEC Group employees has begun, with joint development of industry-specific solutions already underway.
