New Jersey Institute of Technology has launched a portfolio of five-week online certificate programs designed to help working professionals build practical AI skills for their specific job functions. The FutureWork™ AI Capability Series, developed through a partnership between NJIT's Learning and Development Initiative and Ziplines Education, covers AI essentials, automation, human resources, sales, and data analysis - areas where employers increasingly expect AI fluency.
The programs run entirely online, allowing professionals to complete them without stepping away from their jobs. Each course emphasizes hands-on application rather than theory, with participants learning to use AI tools responsibly and measure the impact of their work.
Five specialized programs for distinct roles
The series includes five tracks: AI Essentials Certificate Course, AI Automation and Agentic AI Basics, AI for HR Professionals, AI for Sales Professionals, and AI for Data Analysis. Each runs for five weeks and focuses on practical exercises that translate directly into workplace tasks.
The new offerings complement NJIT's existing AI Literacy Microcredential, part of the university's broader FutureWork™ learning ecosystem. For educators and training professionals, the structure offers a model for delivering job-specific AI education at scale - a useful reference point for institutions building their own workforce development programs. "The FutureWork™ AI Capability Series was created to help professionals move beyond experimenting with AI tools to developing the capabilities, confidence and judgment needed to solve real business challenges and create lasting organizational value."
