Healthcare Staffing Firm Nomad Health Shifts to Software Platform Model
Nomad Health announced today it is transitioning from a staffing agency to a software company. The New York-based firm will now sell its AI operating system to mid-market and enterprise healthcare staffing firms across the country.
The shift reflects years of internal development. Nomad built the platform while running its own high-volume staffing operation, completing over 15,000 recruiter-less placements and 11 million billed hours. That operational history is embedded in the system's architecture.
Tommy Hickey, formerly at Epic Systems, becomes CEO. Justin Lambert, the outgoing CEO, said Hickey's background in enterprise healthcare software makes him the right fit to scale the platform across the industry.
The Problem Nomad Is Solving
Healthcare staffing firms operate on shrinking margins while facing mounting compliance requirements and rising clinician expectations. Most firms rely on software built for an earlier era-systems where growth meant hiring more recruiters and AI was not a core design feature.
"We are a platform built for operators, by operators," Hickey said. "Every automation and AI model exists to solve a problem we were living with as a staffing operator."
Four Unified Suites
The platform includes four components:
- Clinician Suite: A white-labeled experience for clinicians to find jobs and reach submission-ready status without recruiter involvement, generating commission-free revenue.
- Scout (Recruiter Suite): An AI workspace with automated sourcing, AI-drafted messaging, and machine learning-powered pipeline prioritization to increase recruiter output without adding staff.
- Middle Office Suite: Streamlined credentialing and submission packet generation to reduce manual work and lower cost per placement.
- Intelligence Suite: An API-first set of tools including predictive analytics, job recommendations, automated screening, and AI-recruiter messaging.
Staffing firms can deploy the platform as a standalone system or layer it on top of existing infrastructure. Nomad positions it as a complete operating system that executes placements rather than simply recording them.
