Omnicom Group is redrawing its marketing strategy around artificial intelligence, creator ecosystems and connected commerce, Chairman and CEO John Wren told investors during the company's second-quarter results. The shift signals a move beyond the Interpublic Group integration and positions the holding company as an end-to-end partner powered by technology and data.
"Our second quarter results reflect the momentum of the new Omnicom," Wren said, noting that clients are consolidating more business with the combined organisation as its integrated capabilities expand.
Agentic AI becomes a growth engine
AI featured prominently in the outlook, but not as a productivity tool. Wren described agentic marketing transformation as a key growth pillar, with systems capable of planning, executing and optimising marketing activities with greater autonomy. For marketers, that means moving beyond content generation or campaign automation towards embedding intelligent agents across media planning, creative workflows and customer engagement. The company indicated these capabilities would become central to how it serves global clients, marking a realignment of AI for Marketing strategies.
Creator ecosystems take strategic priority
Wren elevated creator ecosystems to the company's list of strategic growth priorities. Rather than treating creators as a specialist media channel, Omnicom now sees creator-led marketing as a core component of its global business strategy. The change reflects how brand building increasingly depends on creators for cultural relevance and community engagement.
Connected commerce converges with media
Connected commerce emerged as another growth engine, underscoring the convergence of media, retail and customer experience. Omnicom is positioning commerce capabilities alongside media and creative services as an integrated offering. The focus targets brands that want measurable business outcomes-not just awareness-across digital marketplaces, retail media networks and omnichannel platforms.
Integration drives client consolidation
The repositioning follows the IPG acquisition and builds on a unified platform model. Wren said clients are already consolidating a larger share of their marketing business with Omnicom, drawn by combined capabilities in media, creative, commerce, CRM and healthcare communications. The company increasingly pitches itself as a single partner for end-to-end marketing transformation, a proposition it believes will be a competitive advantage as global marketers seek fewer, broader relationships.
Why this matters for marketing professionals
The strategy makes clear that future growth for brands will come less from traditional advertising formats and more from integrated experiences shaped by AI-driven discovery, creator culture and transactional media. CMOs need to build expertise in agentic systems and cross-functional commerce skills. An AI Learning Path for CMOs can provide a roadmap for understanding how autonomous marketing tools reshape media planning, creative operations and customer journeys.
