More than 1,100 educators, researchers, and students gathered in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from April 23 to 25, 2026, for MoStart 2026, a regional conference dedicated to digital transformation and AI in education. Organized by the University of Mostar and its Center for Information Technologies (SUMIT), the event was free to attend thanks to sponsor support, including from Oracle Academy.

A regional hub for AI and digital education

The conference, now one of Southeast Europe's leading events in its field, built its program around three themes: Education, IT, and Science. It drew teachers, university faculty, students, technology professionals, and industry representatives. The University of Mostar, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's leading higher education institutions and a long-time Oracle Academy member, hosts the event to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry.

Sessions covered artificial intelligence in education, generative AI, educational technologies, digital transformation, cybersecurity, robotics, and startup innovation. These topics are central to the growing field of AI for Education, which aims to give educators and learners practical skills for an AI-driven world.

Oracle Academy's role and session topics

As a sponsor, Oracle Academy supported an event that mirrors its own vision of preparing learners for an AI-driven future. Through keynotes, workshops, panel discussions, and scientific sessions, participants explored the practical applications of AI while also discussing its ethical, educational, and societal implications.

"Connecting education, research, and industry"

Dr. Daniel Vasić, Assistant Professor at the University of Mostar and a member of the MoStart Organizing Committee, said the conference was designed to bridge classroom practice and emerging technology.

"MoStart was established to serve as a platform for connecting education, research, and industry, with a strong focus on digital transformation and the responsible use of emerging technologies," he said. "By bringing together educators, researchers, students, and technology professionals, the conference encourages the exchange of knowledge, practical experience, and ideas that contribute to the development of modern education and society. We greatly appreciate Oracle Academy's continued support and recognition of MoStart's role in strengthening digital skills, promoting innovation, and creating meaningful opportunities for collaboration across the region."

The University of Mostar has integrated Oracle Academy resources into its teaching for years. Oracle Academy values the long-standing collaboration and said it looks forward to supporting future efforts that help educators and students build the skills and networks needed to thrive in an AI-driven future.

Why this matters for educators

MoStart 2026 shows how regional conferences can make AI knowledge accessible to large audiences without cost barriers. For educators looking to bring similar skills into their own classrooms, structured opportunities like an AI Learning Path for Teachers offer a concrete starting point. The demand for responsible, practical AI training is growing, and events like MoStart, combined with ongoing professional development, equip teachers to lead that learning with confidence.
