OrtCloud raises $1.7M for AI-focused cloud infrastructure

OrtCloud, a Singapore-based cloud infrastructure company, closed a $1.7 million pre-seed round led by Golden Gate Ventures, with participation from Antler. The funding will support product development for the company's virtual machine infrastructure designed for fixed workloads and AI-agent environments.

The company addresses a specific problem in cloud computing: performance variability and unpredictable costs. OrtCloud provisions fixed-resource virtual machine tiers, allowing workloads to scale by upgrading to larger tiers rather than competing for shared capacity. This model delivers consistent performance and more predictable spending.

OrtCloud operates two deployment models. Customers can use its hosted cloud platform or deploy the same orchestration and policy systems on their own hardware. The on-premises option targets enterprises with data residency or network isolation requirements.

Customer base and market opportunity

The company counts OpenAI, Samsung, LG Innotek, Konkuk University, and KAIST University among its enterprise customers. Early demand has concentrated among teams building AI systems that require stable, isolated computing environments.

Golden Gate Ventures identified a structural shift in infrastructure demand. Agent-based AI workloads are creating a new infrastructure category worth over $20 billion that requires fully isolated, sovereign, and always-on compute environments. The Southeast Asia region alone represents a $50 billion to $80 billion infrastructure opportunity across cloud, on-premise, and AI workloads.

OrtCloud plans to use the funding to expand product development, scale infrastructure, and grow its presence in the Asia-Pacific and U.S. markets through hiring and go-to-market initiatives.

For product development professionals managing AI infrastructure decisions, understanding how fixed-resource models differ from traditional shared infrastructure is becoming essential. Learn more about AI for Product Development and AI for IT & Development to build expertise in this space.
