Florida school district taps CGI to replace aging financial systems with cloud-based ERP
The School District of Osceola County in Florida awarded a contract to CGI to implement a modern enterprise resource planning system across the district. The implementation began in April 2026 following a competitive procurement process.
The new system, CGI Advantage, consolidates financial management, procurement, budgeting, and human capital management into a single platform. The district currently operates fragmented, aging technology systems that CGI's solution will replace.
Peter Thorne, the district's CIO, said the modernization will streamline processes and improve data-driven decision-making. "This investment will allow us to better align resources with the needs of our classrooms while delivering meaningful cost savings for our District," he said.
AI tools embedded in daily workflows
CGI Advantage includes two AI capabilities built directly into the system. Samantha, a generative AI chatbot, answers questions and summarizes information from multiple sources. Advantage Assistant provides real-time guidance within the application to help users navigate complex tasks.
These tools address the specific compliance and funding requirements school districts face. The system will enable greater transparency and accountability across the district's operations.
HR and workforce management at the center
Human capital management is a core component of the implementation. The platform consolidates workforce data and processes that currently exist across multiple systems, giving HR teams and district leaders unified visibility into staffing and labor costs.
For HR professionals managing a district's workforce, the consolidated system means access to real-time data on headcount, compensation, benefits, and compliance. This consolidation supports the complex workforce requirements unique to school districts.
CGI will serve as both software provider and implementation partner, giving the district a single point of accountability for the project.
