Phenom has opened submissions for its 2027 Phenom HR Awards, expanding the program's focus on how employers are using artificial intelligence and automation to reshape hiring, talent management and broader HR operations. The awards, now in their sixth year, recognize Phenom customers that have demonstrated measurable business results from workforce technology, including faster hiring, stronger employee engagement, reduced costs and successful expansion of AI programs from pilots to enterprise-wide deployments.
Submissions are open to Phenom customers worldwide through November 13, 2026. Winners will be recognized during IAMPHENOM 2027, the company's annual conference taking place April 20-22 in Philadelphia.
Eleven categories with a focus on applied AI
The 2027 program includes 11 categories spanning organizational strategy, HR teams and individual leadership. This year's categories place particular emphasis on applied and agentic AI, reflecting a shift in enterprise conversations from experimenting with generative AI toward integrating the technology into repeatable workflows.
"Every organization is trying to figure out how to successfully operationalize AI," said Christina Brown, vice president and general manager of Global Customer Value at Phenom. "In human resources, the companies that have answered that question did it with AI that understands their business, their roles and how work actually gets done."
Among the strategic categories is AI Agent Pioneer, which recognizes organizations deploying AI agents across specific business use cases. Automation MVP focuses on reducing manual HR work, while Best Hiring Experience recognizes companies applying AI to improve decision-making, hiring speed and experiences for candidates and hiring managers. Other strategic awards include Employer Brand of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Co-Developer of the Year, the latter recognizing customers that have collaborated directly with Phenom on the development of its AI capabilities.
Team and individual awards
Three categories focus on functional teams. Talent Acquisition Team of the Year recognizes organizations using talent intelligence to improve hiring performance across different roles, volumes and labor-market conditions. Talent Management Team of the Year centers on retention, internal mobility and employee development, while HRIT Team of the Year recognizes the technology infrastructure and integrations supporting HR operations. The program also includes Talent Executive of the Year and Best of the Best, its broader recognition for organizations demonstrating results across hiring, employee development and retention.
For HR leaders tracking how AI for Human Resources is moving from experimentation to operational reality, the award categories offer a useful map of where large employers are seeing returns. The categories reflect how the competitive landscape for HR technology is evolving. Employers are increasingly evaluating AI not simply as a standalone recruiting tool but as infrastructure capable of connecting candidate acquisition, workforce planning, employee development, internal mobility and retention.
Documenting real-world deployments
Phenom is positioning its platform around that shift. The Greater Philadelphia-based company develops applied AI technology designed to support hiring, workforce development and retention. Its architecture combines data orchestration, business and workforce ontologies, personalized AI experiences and agents intended to work alongside HR teams.
The awards also give Phenom a mechanism for documenting how customers are deploying those capabilities in operating environments. Customer implementations can provide practical evidence of where AI is producing returns, which use cases are scaling successfully and where organizations are moving beyond experimentation. "Six years into these awards, our customers' insights remain one of the most valuable resources they can share with their peers and the industry as a whole," Brown said.
Why this matters for HR professionals
The 2027 award categories signal a clear shift in what vendors and employers consider credible evidence of AI success. Rather than rewarding adoption itself, the program now evaluates measurable operational improvements: reduced manual work, faster hiring, stronger retention and AI deployments that have scaled beyond pilots. For HR teams building a business case for AI investment, the winning entries will provide concrete benchmarks for what applied AI can deliver in hiring, talent management and HR operations. Senior HR leaders can also use the AI Learning Path for CHROs to build the strategic foundation needed to evaluate these technologies against their own workforce goals.
