Preply, an online language learning marketplace connecting over 100,000 tutors with students globally, has integrated OpenAI to automate lesson summaries and personalized feedback. This shift addresses a core friction point in education by reducing administrative prep time for instructors while giving students a measurable view of their progress.
Automating the administrative work
Language instruction requires human interaction, but tutors spend significant time writing personalized plans and lesson notes. Preply developed Lesson Insights, an OpenAI API-driven feature that analyzes lesson transcripts to generate tailored feedback.
Within minutes of a session ending, the system produces a structured report covering grammar corrections, vocabulary highlights, pronunciation feedback, and recommended next steps. Learners receive actionable guidance, and tutors reclaim hours previously spent on manual documentation.
Driving adoption across the organization
Preply rolled out ChatGPT Enterprise to more than 600 employees across its global offices. The company ran company-wide enablement sessions, pushing weekly active usage from 60 percent to 95 percent. Educators looking to understand these workflows can review an AI Learning Path for Teachers to see how instructional staff practically adopt these tools.
Engineering teams also adopted AI coding assistants like Codex. About 94 percent of Preply engineers now use these tools for code generation, pull request reviews, and debugging, allowing them to focus on broader system architecture.
Measurable results on learning retention
The feature has moved beyond initial novelty. Approximately 75 percent of English-language learners actively use Lesson Insights, and more than 70 percent of tutors rely on it.
Retention remains high, with around 75 percent of active learners continuing to engage with the tool more than a year after adoption. The platform reports a 4.7 out of 5 satisfaction rating based on over 300,000 direct reviews, alongside a 70 percent product-market fit score.
"Before I started using Preply's AI feature, I would spend hours and hours prepping for classes and creating homework. But now that time has been cut by more than half," said Michelle Garcia Ramos, a Spanish tutor on the platform. Tutors report that the automated summaries also help them identify specific areas where students need to focus next.
Why this matters for education professionals
The deployment of AI for Education demonstrates a viable model for reducing educator burnout without sacrificing instructional quality. By shifting repetitive administrative tasks to automated systems, teachers and tutors can redirect their energy toward student engagement, motivation, and targeted skill development. The data shows that when technology handles the documentation, educators have more capacity to focus on the human elements of teaching.
