Procore Adds Columbia AI Leader to Board as Construction Software Pushes AI Integration

Procore Technologies appointed Vishal Misra, a computer science professor at Columbia University, to its board of directors. Misra leads Columbia's computing and AI initiatives as vice dean and brings 25 years of academic research plus experience founding multiple technology companies.

The appointment signals Procore's focus on embedding artificial intelligence deeper into construction management. Misra co-founded Infinio, a storage software company, and AskHereFirst, which uses natural language processing to answer queries. He also co-founded Cricinfo, the cricket statistics platform that ESPN later acquired.

Procore's CEO Ajei Gopal said Misra's background would help the company "redefine construction management through intelligent innovation." The construction software platform serves over three million projects across 150 countries.

Misra said the infrastructure market presents "an unprecedented market opportunity" for AI-powered tools. He joins the board at a time when construction firms increasingly adopt software to manage labor, scheduling, budgets, and safety compliance.

Misra holds a degree from IIT Bombay and advanced degrees from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
