PTC released Creo 13 and Creo+ 13.3 on June 12, 2026, introducing an embedded AI assistant and workflow updates for its on-premises and SaaS computer-aided design (CAD) software. These updates aim to help engineering teams reduce repetitive tasks and access technical guidance without leaving the CAD environment.
Creo AI assistant and 3D model insights
The new Creo AI Assistant functions as an embedded expert resource. Through a chat interface within the software, users can retrieve guidance grounded in best practices, supporting AI for Product Development workflows instead of searching external documentation.
The release also includes a beta capability that reads directly from the 3D model. This feature is designed to extract insights, allowing engineers to identify design issues earlier, validate compliance, and surface key design data on demand.
Workflow enhancements across CAD capabilities
PTC updated several core product workflows to improve daily operations. User productivity improvements include additional feature presets and upgrades to surfacing, sketching, sheet metal, welding, and multi-body capabilities.
Assembly management now supports faster loading from Windchill over wide-area networks, specifically targeting users handling large CAD assemblies. Model-based definition tools also feature broader 3D PDF export support and improved annotation tools to share design intent.
These updates provide new tools for professionals focused on Design and engineering workflows. Other additions cover composite design with faster transition calculations, broader simulation coverage for assemblies and electronics, and generative design optimization in assembly contexts.
Advanced manufacturing gains new 5-axis toolpath options and mold design workflows. Electrification workflows also receive enhancements for harness assembly and early cable routing.
Why this matters for product development professionals
Engineering teams managing complex assemblies or specialized manufacturing processes will see immediate workflow changes. The embedded AI assistant reduces context switching by keeping documentation and compliance checks inside the CAD interface. Meanwhile, the beta 3D model reading capability shifts issue identification earlier in the cycle, potentially reducing costly late-stage revisions.
