KB Financial Group partners with Rebellions on AI semiconductor infrastructure
KB Financial Group and AI chip maker Rebellions signed a strategic partnership on May 27 to deploy domestically developed AI semiconductors within South Korea's financial sector.
Rebellions will provide inference-optimized AI semiconductor infrastructure to KB Financial Group. In return, the financial group will offer financial services support and assist with funding and business operations.
The partnership addresses a specific constraint in Korean banking. Financial institutions operate under network separation regulations that require on-premise infrastructure rather than cloud-based deployments used elsewhere.
Rebellions CEO Park Sung-hyun said the deal represents "the first step toward establishing domestically developed AI semiconductors within the financial industry."
KB Financial Group has backed Rebellions since its Series A round. The chip maker was later valued at 3.4 trillion won and became the first direct investment recipient of South Korea's National Growth Fund.
The two companies plan to expand cooperation on broader AI ecosystem development, though financial terms were not disclosed.
