RefAssured Launches Sales Signal, an AI Tool to Generate Leads From Reference Checks

RefAssured, a provider of reference checking and fraud prevention software for staffing agencies, announced Sales Signal on Tuesday. The product uses AI to identify sales leads from reference-checking conversations and surfaces them directly within an agency's existing applicant tracking system.

The tool addresses a persistent problem in staffing: generating new business. RefAssured processes over one million references annually and found that 4% of reference-givers volunteer as sales leads without prompting, while 19% identify as talent leads. Sales Signal applies AI to the remaining 77%.

How It Works

Reference checks already create a legitimate reason for recruiters to contact hiring managers or former supervisors. Both parties share an interest in a specific candidate. RefAssured's system completes checks in 12 to 26 hours with a 90% completion rate and generates a validated scorecard on candidate skills and culture fit.

Sales Signal identifies which conversations contain signals of potential business opportunities and flags them for sales reps. The leads appear within the ATS - whether Bullhorn, Salesforce, JobDiva, or symplr - so reps don't need to switch tools.

Part of a Broader Platform

Sales Signal is the latest addition to RefAssured's performance intelligence platform. The company previously released a fraud prevention tool powered by ID.me and post-hire performance evaluations that track how candidates perform on assignment.

Together, these products create a record for each candidate: identity verification, reference data, and on-the-job performance. Agencies can use this structured data to improve placements, reduce risk, and identify redeployment opportunities. RefAssured says the post-hire evaluations increase redeployment rates from an industry average of 5% to as high as 50%.

The Sales Angle

Brian Vesce, CEO of RefAssured, said the product targets a specific problem: "Staffing agencies don't need more dashboards or more data to sift through. They need to win more business."

Stephen Brady, chief revenue officer of INSPYR Solutions, noted that agencies sit on untapped relationship data. "The next evolution of growth in staffing will come from firms that can turn this data into structured intelligence that improves both placement outcomes and revenue generation," he said.
