Schreiber Foods, a global dairy supplier with more than $7 billion in annual sales, has formed a multi-year partnership with AI engineering firm Ascendion to deploy agentic AI across its operations and software development. The initiative covers more than 40 locations on five continents and aims to improve food safety, quality signals, and collaboration while reducing repetitive tech work.
Schreiber's products feed families in more than 95 countries, and its IT capability centers serve more than 10,000 employee-partners worldwide. The partnership builds on Schreiber's existing AI tools and uses Ascendion's proprietary AAVA platform to accelerate AI across workflows.
How agentic AI will change operations
AI agents will help Schreiber and Ascendion teams get quality and food safety signals to decision-makers faster, modernize the ERP environment, and give regional teams a more unified way to collaborate. Over time, repetitive, high-volume technology work will increasingly be performed by AI agents, freeing engineers and analysts to focus on work that requires human judgment and creativity.
"To fuel Schreiber's next era of rapid growth, we are taking a bold, transformational leap forward in how we operate and serve our customers," said Trevor Farrell, President of Schreiber Foods. "By leaning into next-generation, agentic AI with Ascendion, we are reinforcing the very foundation of what our customers rely on us for: world-class quality, safety, and service."
The partnership's approach
Ascendion's Engineering to the Power of AI method and tools will balance work across people and AI to ensure security, privacy, compliance, and ethical alignment. The company's AAVA platform brings expert engineers and AI agents together as one operating model. For operations professionals looking to adapt, resources such as AI Agents & Automation training and AI for Operations certifications can help build relevant skills.
"Schreiber Foods' mission is one of the most consequential out there," said Karthik Krishnamurthy, CEO of Ascendion. "We are honored to deploy technology that helps Schreiber bring food to people all over the world."
"AI is a significant driver of transformation, but its real strength lies in how it empowers our people," said Sri Kantamneni, Executive Vice President, Chief Information & Digital Officer at Schreiber Foods. "Through this strategic collaboration with Ascendion, we're equipping our capability centers with AI-native tools that elevate our internal service and operational standards."
Ascendion's Chief Growth Officer Dharam Gurbani added: "We're accountable for outcomes, not effort. What changes for Schreiber Foods' plants, customers, and consumers is the only scorecard that matters." The partnership will operate capability centers in the United States, Mexico, India, Spain, and Poland.
Why this matters for operations professionals
Operations professionals in global supply chains will see AI agents take over manual monitoring and coordination tasks, from food safety alerts to ERP updates. That shift frees teams to focus on problems requiring human judgment, but it also demands new skills: managing AI agents, interpreting fast-moving data, and collaborating across geographies with unified systems. For those in operations roles, the Schreiber-Ascendion deal signals that agentic AI is no longer a future concept - it's being deployed now to reshape how global companies run their daily work.
