The move marks a shift in where ChatGPT intersects with insurance sales. Prior AI deployments in the sector focused on claims processing, underwriting, and customer support. This launch puts AI directly into the quoting stage, at the moment a customer forms intent to buy.

Capturing Intent Where Customers Already Work

Insurance distribution has historically moved through agents, brokers, and company websites. A business owner researching coverage would fill out a form, wait for a callback, or call a broker. The research and the transaction happened in different places.

The Simply Business app sits in ChatGPT's App Directory and appears as a recommendation when users ask about business risk and insurance. That placement matters. A customer asking about liability coverage gets a price in the same conversation, without navigating to a separate website first.

The full quote and purchase still happen on Simply Business' platform. The insurer retains control over pricing and policy issuance. ChatGPT handles discovery and first-touch engagement. No personally identifiable information is collected inside the ChatGPT interface.

Reducing Friction in the Sales Path

This compression of the workflow addresses a real problem in insurance. According to industry data, the average underwriter processes only about 40% of submissions that arrive.
