SolarWinds Debuts AI Agent to Cut Outages and Speed Incident Response

SolarWinds launches AI Agent to move IT ops from firefighting to autonomous resilience

Outages still blindside teams. SolarWinds announced an AI Agent and expanded AI features to close the "resilience gap" by predicting issues, automating response, and lowering cognitive load for operators. The software extends Secure by Design principles into AI, bringing conversational, agentic workflows to detection, diagnostics, and remediation.

What the SolarWinds AI Agent does

  • Resolve incidents faster: Auto-summarizes outages, gathers diagnostics, surfaces probable root causes, and suggests fixes.
  • Natural language control: Ask about system health, compare metrics, request recommendations, and kick off multi-step workflows using plain-language prompts.
  • Simplify observability management: Configure and manage SolarWinds Observability directly through the agentic interface.

"The AI Agent is a foundation for a new way of working," said Krishna Sai, CTO at SolarWinds. "By embedding intelligent, context-aware AI into IT workflows, teams can shift from reactive work to proactive innovation."

Available now

  • Root Cause Assist (GA): Generates clear, evidence-based root-cause analysis from alerts and anomalies to cut time-to-diagnose.
  • Dynamic Threshold Enhancements: Extends automated thresholding to more metrics to reduce noise and false positives.

On the 2026 roadmap

  • AI Incident Correlation for Service Desk: Groups related incidents and recommends problem management to address underlying issues.
  • AI Knowledge Base Generation: Creates articles from commonly solved incidents to boost self-service and deflect tickets.
  • Automated Runbook Execution: Executes predefined SOP steps for first-touch response, diagnostics, or suggested fixes before human handoff.

"We're helping customers reach autonomous operational resilience-where systems run smarter, faster, and more securely with minimal manual intervention," said Sudhakar Ramakrishna, President and CEO, SolarWinds. "By unifying automation, observability, visualization, and remediation, teams can lower mean time to detect and resolve while freeing cycles for innovation."

Why this matters for Operations

  • Lower MTTR and MTTD: Automation accelerates triage and resolution.
  • Less alert fatigue: Dynamic thresholds and correlation help filter noise.
  • Shift to prevention: Context-aware insights and runbooks move work upstream.
  • Knowledge that compounds: Auto-generated KBs build institutional memory.

How to implement-practical steps

  • Start with high-cost incidents: Point the AI Agent at your top recurring outages and noisy services.
  • Codify guardrails: Define runbook approval rules and escalation paths for auto-execution.
  • Integrate with change and problem management: Use correlation to trigger problem workflows and post-incident reviews.
  • Track the right KPIs: MTTD, MTTR, false-positive rate, ticket deflection, runbook success, and operator satisfaction.
  • Upskill the team: Train analysts to write effective natural-language prompts and maintain runbooks.
