The collaboration was announced at Make it in the Emirates 2026, where both organizations committed to joint research, innovation programs, and talent development in sovereign and agentic AI.

The partnership pairs the university's academic expertise with Saal.ai's enterprise AI platforms and infrastructure. Vikraman Poduval, CEO of Saal.ai, framed the deal as accelerating sovereign AI capabilities with "self-reliance and full autonomy." He emphasized ensuring Emirati talent leads the development of AI systems that serve national priorities.

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi designated 2026 as its Year of AI. The institution operates the Sorbonne Center for Artificial Intelligence and offers specialized programs including a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a specialization in Data Science for Artificial Intelligence.
