Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and Saal.ai, a UAE-based AI and data company, signed a partnership agreement focused on artificial intelligence research and development. The collaboration was announced at Make it in the Emirates 2026, where both organizations committed to joint research, innovation programs, and talent development in sovereign and agentic AI.
The partnership pairs the university's academic expertise with Saal.ai's enterprise AI platforms and infrastructure. Together, they aim to develop localized AI capabilities aligned with the UAE's national AI strategy and support the growth of a sovereign AI ecosystem controlled by local stakeholders.

Dr. Xavier Fresquet, head of the Sorbonne Center for Artificial Intelligence, said academic-industry partnerships are essential as AI systems expand across sectors.
