Splice and ElevenLabs Partner on AI Music Tools

Splice, the royalty-free sample platform, has partnered with ElevenLabs to develop AI-powered music production tools. The collaboration gives Splice access to ElevenLabs' foundational music models to build new features for its user base.

The deal arrives a month after Splice launched three AI products that compensate original creators with each use. Variations lets producers remix samples by changing structure, key, and tempo. Craft transforms samples into playable instruments. Magic Fit, arriving summer 2026, matches sounds to a session's harmonic and rhythmic context.

Kakul Srivastava, Splice's CEO, said the partnership reflects a shift in how the company approaches generative AI and LLM development. "In this second wave of AI in music, the creator comes first," Srivastava said. "We're building responsible products from the ground up."

Splice has moved into AI incrementally since 2023, when it launched Create, a non-generative tool that matches and combines sounds from its library. Srivastava previously told Billboard she found "push button" AI music tools "disturbing," saying she wanted Splice's AI work to make people more curious about creation, not less.

The company has accelerated its AI strategy recently. In late 2025, Splice partnered with Universal Music Group on commercial AI tools and virtual instruments. In January, it acquired Kits AI, a voice platform.

ElevenLabs, an AI voice company, has been building its own music capabilities. It signed licensing deals with Kobalt, Merlin, and SourceAudio starting in 2025. The company launched ElevenMusic, which generates songs from text prompts.

Mati Staniszewski, ElevenLabs co-founder, said the collaboration embeds the company's models directly into Splice's workflow. "Our models deliver studio-grade audio ready for commercial use," Staniszewski said.

For product teams, the partnership illustrates how AI for product development now requires both technical capability and creator economics. Both companies are betting that tools designed with creator compensation built in will differentiate them in a crowded market.
