Springboards launches Flint, an AI model built for creative variety
Springboards released the Alpha version of Flint today, an AI model designed to generate diverse creative ideas rather than converge on predictable outputs. The platform, used by hundreds of agency and in-house teams across the US, UK, and Australia, is overhauling its service to give creatives more control and flexibility.
Flint differs from large language models that typically produce similar responses even when given open-ended prompts. In testing, Flint scored 7 out of 10 on the Novelty Bench, an independent creativity metric, compared to an average of 2.88 for leading LLMs. That means when prompted ten times, Flint generates seven functionally distinct responses instead of surface-level paraphrases of the same idea.
The model is built on a lightweight, open-source foundation and prioritizes speed and iteration over raw processing power. Springboards designed it to address a problem its founders observed: frontier models were becoming more polished and capable while their outputs grew repetitive.
Platform redesign and new pricing tiers
Springboards is redesigning its platform interface to integrate more easily into advertising and marketing workflows. The company is introducing flexible pricing plans, including free and paid tiers, to serve freelancers, small teams, and boutique agencies.
The platform now includes Spark Sessions, a monthly masterclass series available to annual subscribers. The sessions feature industry practitioners including Mark Pollard, James Hurman, Tom Morton, Lucy Verby, Faris Yakob, Rosie Yakob, and Zoe Scaman, covering creative development and AI workflows.
Why this matters for creatives
Most AI tools optimize for accuracy and correctness. Flint inverts that priority, optimizing instead for variation and originality. The company achieved this without degrading the model's general capabilities, meaning it can produce diverse outputs while still handling standard tasks.
Clients using Springboards include TRG and BMF. The platform has grown from a specialized advertising tool to a global service over the past three years.
Flint is available globally starting today at springboards.ai.
