A survey of 1,811 HR professionals across industries reveals that artificial intelligence has vaulted to the top of the HR agenda, with 60% naming it a top priority and another 15% seeing its growing importance in recruitment, onboarding, and routine operations. The Genius HRTech DigiPoll report, "AI As The New HR Priority - Efficiency, Cost and Workforce Impact," conducted from May 7 to 31, underscores how quickly AI is moving from experimental to essential in people management.
Improving efficiency and productivity drove AI adoption for 60% of respondents, while 20% said their organizations are using AI primarily to cut costs and optimize workforce management.
Automating Operations and Reshaping the Workforce
AI's effects are already visible in day-to-day HR work. Forty-two per cent of survey participants reported significant improvements in the speed and efficiency of HR processes, and another 29% saw moderate gains. Recruitment, onboarding, and employee services are becoming faster as AI handles more routine tasks.
The technology is also altering workforce composition. Forty-two per cent of professionals said AI reduces the need for manual or repetitive roles, while 37% believe it supports smarter workforce planning. This points to a move toward skill-first organizations that rely on technology to match talent with business needs.
Ethical AI and the Human Element
R P Yadav, Chairman of Genius HRTech, cautioned against viewing AI as a replacement for people. "Successful AI adoption is not about replacing people, it is about empowering them. Businesses that combine intelligent automation with human expertise, transparency and ethical governance will build stronger, more resilient workplaces," he said.
Why this matters for HR professionals
The survey makes clear that AI is no longer an optional add-on. For HR leaders, building competence in AI tools and ethical frameworks is becoming a core requirement. AI for HR courses can provide the practical knowledge to navigate this shift. Managers can build deeper, hands-on skills through an AI learning path for HR managers, which covers recruitment automation, workforce analytics, and process design.
