Swedish Industry Giants Join Forces with NVIDIA to Build Nation’s Largest AI Supercomputer

Swedish Consortium Partners with NVIDIA to Build AI Factory

A Swedish business consortium has announced a partnership with NVIDIA to develop advanced AI infrastructure in Sweden. This initiative aims to equip the country’s leading industries with state-of-the-art AI computing, networking, and software capabilities. The project focuses on accelerating AI adoption and innovation across multiple sectors.

The consortium includes major Swedish companies AstraZeneca, Ericsson, Saab, and SEB, working closely with Wallenberg Investments. Together, they will establish a joint company to operate this AI system, ensuring secure and sovereign compute access for all partners.

Building Sweden’s Largest AI Supercomputer

The first phase involves deploying two NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs powered by NVIDIA’s newest Grace Blackwell GB300 systems. Once operational, this will be Sweden’s largest enterprise AI supercomputer. It will handle intensive AI tasks such as training domain-specific models and performing large-scale AI inference, including reasoning capabilities.

Marcus Wallenberg, Chair of Wallenberg Investments, emphasized the strategic importance of this investment: “Investing in advanced AI infrastructure is key to speeding up the development and use of AI in Swedish industry. This effort will also promote upskilling, collaboration, and strengthen the national AI ecosystem.”

Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, highlighted the broader significance: “As electricity powered the industrial age and the internet fueled the digital age, AI is the engine of the next industrial transformation. Sweden’s initiative, led by Wallenberg Investments and industry leaders, sets the stage for breakthroughs in science, industry, and society.”

Driving AI Innovation Across Industries

The consortium and NVIDIA are committed to growing AI expertise within Swedish industries and promoting knowledge exchange. NVIDIA plans to open its first AI Technology Center in Sweden, offering access to experts and hands-on training through its Deep Learning Institute to boost AI skills.

  • AstraZeneca will use the infrastructure to advance AI-driven drug discovery, leveraging foundation model training and multi-model inference.
  • Ericsson aims to improve AI model development for better performance, efficiency, and customer experience, enabling new business opportunities for billions of users.
  • Saab plans to accelerate the creation of advanced defense technologies by integrating AI with its existing platforms.
  • SEB intends to enhance productivity and innovate customer services with AI, emphasizing secure access to critical computing resources.

About the Consortium

The Swedish business consortium, composed of AstraZeneca, Ericsson, Saab, SEB, and Wallenberg Investments, is focused on establishing next-generation AI computing infrastructure in Sweden. Their goal is to create a secure and advanced facility that serves both production needs and as a reference point to encourage broader AI adoption.

This initiative responds to the increasing demand among Swedish companies for reliable, sovereign AI computing resources.
