Teradata launches platform to manage AI agents at scale

Teradata released the Autonomous Knowledge Platform today, combining its AI, analytics and data tools into a single system designed to run across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments. The company is positioning the platform around what it calls autonomous AI-software agents that operate continuously with minimal human oversight.

The central component is Teradata AI Studio, a workspace for building, managing and governing AI models, agents and applications. It will be sold separately for organizations using existing infrastructure.

What enterprises actually need

Teradata framed the launch around a concrete problem: AI agents generate far more database queries than human users, straining infrastructure budgets. Large organizations now face pressure to decide where AI workloads should run and how to control spending as usage grows.

The company is targeting the gap between AI pilots and operational deployment. Most enterprise infrastructure wasn't built to sustain always-on agents that continuously generate decisions and actions.

The platform components

Teradata introduced Tera, a natural-language workspace with separate modes for data analysis, coding and multi-agent automation. The platform includes built-in agents that handle operational tasks: sizing compute resources, monitoring system signals, tracking spending, tuning query performance, and managing provisioning.

In Teradata Cloud, the platform combines always-on compute with on-demand elastic capacity in a managed system. This approach lets exploratory and production workloads run together without moving data between platforms.

For organizations with data residency requirements, Teradata Factory extends the platform on-premises using Dell PowerEdge servers and NVIDIA infrastructure.

Data governance built in

The Connected Data Foundation, available in Teradata Cloud, unifies block and object storage under governed architecture. It supports open table formats including Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake, allowing data to be stored once and accessed consistently while customers retain ownership.

Teradata is building partner integrations into AI Studio, including Karini AI for no-code agent development, Pinecone for vector retrieval, and Unstructured for ingesting unstructured data.

Availability

AI Studio and Teradata AI Services are available now across all deployment types. The Autonomous Knowledge Platform launches first on Teradata Cloud. Tera Claw, the multi-agent orchestration mode, enters research preview by year-end.
