TNL Mediagene Unveils AI Initiatives to Boost Creative Productivity
TNL Mediagene, a leading digital media and data group based in Tokyo, announced several AI-driven projects aimed at enhancing productivity across its operations. The initiatives include the launch of an AI Agent product called "AI Audience + AI Creative," new AI-powered ad revenue optimization, and cost reduction efforts that have already cut human capital intensity by 5% at the group level.
Introducing the AI Agent: "AI Audience + AI Creative"
The company’s subsidiary, Ad2iction, has rolled out an AI Agent solution integrating language models with generative technologies to automate up to 70% of marketing processes. AI Audience combines five smart modules:
- Consumer insights from over 18 million audience behavior data points
- Strategy formulation using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology
- Integration of brand and market data for customer data fusion
- Dynamic audience matching algorithms
- Real-time generation of decision support audience reports
Meanwhile, AI Creative focuses on producing animated ads quickly and affordably, increasing content flexibility and helping brands deliver better results with fewer resources.
Advancing Multilingual Content Production with AI
TNL Mediagene's tech team has developed an AI-powered system for content translation and syndication. Since its deployment last year, the system has processed over 5,000 articles. Recently, more than 1,200 articles were published using the AI workflow, with human editing averaging less than an hour per article.
A key achievement is that over half of Roomie Taiwan’s content in May was generated with this AI-enabled translation process. This system will support the upcoming launch of Business Insider Taiwan, enabling scalable and efficient multilingual content creation.
Boosting Display Ad Revenue Through AI Optimization
The company introduced an AI-driven platform in early 2023 to optimize third-party display ads—an important revenue source for its Media & Branded Content unit. This platform has significantly increased Revenue Per Mille (RPM) per page view on selected media sites.
Cutting Costs by Integrating AI into Workplace Tools
TNL Mediagene has embedded Google Gemini AI into Google Workspace to enhance productivity. Key uses include drafting and summarizing emails and documents, plus improving meeting efficiency through multilingual translation and real-time assistance.
By encouraging systematic AI use, the company reduced group-level human capital intensity by about 5% compared to the previous year as of May 2025.
Building an AI Community Through Events
In May 2025, TNL Mediagene co-hosted the Generative AI Conference, attracting around 1,000 professionals from across Asia. The company also ran two "AI First Lounge" events with Gizmodo Japan and Tech Insider, fostering a community focused on media that uses AI to evolve society positively.
Leadership Perspectives on AI Integration
Co-Founder & CEO Joey Chung highlighted that AI has been integral to boosting both revenue and operational efficiency. The company’s new AdTech products showcase this commitment. AI also plays a key role in their M&A strategy, with plans to acquire AI-focused companies that meet their criteria.
Co-Founder & President Motoko Imada emphasized the importance of AI in modern media operations. The company prioritizes AI methods that enhance, rather than compromise, the quality and credibility of human-created content.
