TrendAI, the AI cybersecurity business of Trend Micro, has surpassed $1 billion in sales on the AWS Marketplace, a milestone that shows how AI is reshaping corporate security spending. The company, whose U.S. headquarters is in Irving, Texas, said the sales figure reflects growing demand from large organizations guarding against AI-oriented threats.
The AWS Marketplace lets customers find, buy, and manage third-party software and services. TrendAI sells its Vision One platform through the marketplace, giving buyers access to tools that detect malicious text-embedded AI commands, assess AI risk, and control AI usage across their organizations.
A TrendAI spokesperson said the milestone demonstrates that "organizations want to consume security through the platforms where they're already investing and innovating." Buyers are increasingly using cloud-based marketplaces instead of traditional sales channels, the spokesperson said.
Why enterprises are buying AI security
TrendAI attributes the sales spike to large companies ramping up protections against AI-specific threats. Some of the growth comes from new customers adopting AI security for the first time, while existing customers are expanding their AI initiatives.
"Organizations are deploying AI services faster than traditional security approaches can adapt," the spokesperson said.
Trend Micro has sold through the AWS Marketplace for more than a decade. Demand increased notably after the company adopted consumption-based billing there in 2014.
The AI cybersecurity market is expanding fast
The milestone comes amid rapid growth in the AI-in-cybersecurity market. Grand View Research projects the global market will jump from $31.5 billion last year to $182.9 billion by 2033, a 141% increase. SNS Insider forecasts similar growth, estimating the market will rise from $32 billion last year to $275 billion by 2035.
Threats from cyber, ransomware, and phishing attacks are driving demand, according to SNS Insider. So are the expansion of cloud and internet of things technology, stepped-up monitoring of AI activity, and tightening compliance regulations.
"What we're seeing is demand for AI security becoming part of core infrastructure planning rather than a standalone security project," the TrendAI spokesperson said.
Trend Micro's AI-first pivot
In March, Trend Micro rebranded its enterprise cybersecurity unit as TrendAI, reflecting AI's growing role as a foundation of business computing. The company rebuilt itself around an AI-first approach because it believes the next decade of security will be defined by AI.
"Customers are adopting AI faster than they can secure it," Rachel Jin, head of TrendAI and its chief platform and business officer, said in a statement. "Our strong record of innovation gives us the foundation to change that and help organizations adopt AI securely."
Jin described the shift as a fundamental change in security strategy. "As AI systems take on more responsibility, security must evolve from reacting to events to understanding intent and governing machine-driven actions," she said.
For sales professionals, the takeaway is straightforward: buyers are consolidating security purchases onto cloud marketplaces, and AI protection is becoming a budget line item rather than an add-on. Sales teams that understand how AI security products are evaluated and purchased - and can speak to specific threats like AI command injection or shadow AI usage - will have an edge. The broader trend also points to marketplace-first selling as a channel that can no longer be treated as secondary. If you sell software or services, AI for Sales training can help you navigate these buyer dynamics.
The shift also creates opportunities for technical sellers and solution architects. As security buying moves to platforms like AWS Marketplace, the sales cycle becomes more self-serve, and the differentiator shifts from relationship management to technical credibility. Professionals who can bridge security and AI concepts will be better positioned than those who rely on traditional enterprise sales tactics. For those in security-focused sales roles, understanding the underlying technology is increasingly part of the job - see AI for Cybersecurity Analysts for relevant training pathways.
