Turkic States to Hold AI Summit in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan will host an informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States on May 15 in Turkistan, focusing on artificial intelligence and digital development. Heads of state and government from OTS member and observer states will attend, along with OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev.
The summit agenda centers on how Turkic states can use AI, digital innovation, and emerging technologies to drive economic growth, improve public services, and strengthen regional connectivity. Foreign ministers will meet separately ahead of the main leaders' session.
Turkistan, historically significant as the spiritual capital of the Turkic world, was chosen as the venue to connect shared cultural heritage with technological advancement. Representatives from the Council of Elders and regional Turkic cooperation organizations will also participate.
The gathering reflects broader regional interest in coordinating digital strategy. For IT and development professionals, the summit signals how government-level collaboration on AI for IT & Development is shaping policy across Central Asia.
The OTS includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan as full members, with Azerbaijan and Turkey as observer states. The organization has grown to coordinate on trade, security, and cultural matters since its founding in 1992.
