UAE deploys first AI agents across tax, procurement and customer services as it targets half of government work automated within two years
The UAE has launched AI agents across four government functions and aims to deliver half of all public services through these systems within two years. Over 80,000 federal employees will be trained to work alongside them.

UAE Deploys AI Agents Across Government Services
The United Arab Emirates has launched its first wave of AI agents to handle government functions, with plans to deliver half of all public services through these systems within two years.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, announced the initiative following a government retreat in Abu Dhabi. The deployment covers four initial areas: tax auditing, procurement, customer service, and technical support.
What the AI agents will do
The procurement agents will streamline purchasing workflows and improve operational efficiency. Tax auditing agents will strengthen data verification and accelerate compliance reviews.
For customer-facing operations, AI agents will improve customer happiness by giving service teams faster access to information and reducing response times. Technical support agents will help IT teams manage services and resolve system issues more quickly.
Scale and training
The government has assigned more than 400 officials to oversee the strategy. The Cabinet separately announced plans to train 80,000 government employees-from ministers to junior staff-in using AI agents and automation.
Training will cover leadership roles, technical expertise, specialist positions, and the general workforce. A dedicated digital platform powered by AI will deliver personalized learning programs to federal employees.
Why this matters for customer support professionals
The UAE's model shows how AI agents can reshape customer service delivery. Rather than replacing support staff, these systems handle routine information requests and technical troubleshooting, freeing teams to focus on complex issues.
Al Maktoum framed the project as a model for government operations globally, not just a UAE initiative. Al Nahyan said the country aims to develop a new operational model by using technology to improve quality of life while strengthening its position in AI development.
