UK Government Commissions Survey of AI Sector Growth
The UK government has commissioned research to examine the size and trajectory of the country's artificial intelligence sector. The initiative, launched in April 2026, will inform policy development on AI.
Market research firm Ipsos is conducting the survey fieldwork between late April and the end of May 2026. Interviews will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes and occur either by phone or online.
Who Ipsos Will Contact
Research partner Perspective Economics compiled a list of UK AI businesses using publicly available information. Ipsos is seeking to interview someone with visibility into each company's AI products, services, and growth plans-typically a CEO, CTO, company director, or senior member of an AI or data science team.
Some businesses will receive calls from Ipsos's Edinburgh office. Others may get an email invitation to complete the survey online instead. Phone interviews will be scheduled at times convenient for participants.
How to Prepare
Ipsos has created a pre-interview question help sheet to assist organisations in selecting the right participant and preparing for the conversation. Participation is voluntary and fully confidential.
Respondents with questions about the survey can contact Ipsos directly by email.
Context
This is the third wave of similar research. Ipsos conducted fieldwork in March to May 2024 and again in February to March 2025.
