Una Software Secures $4.4 Million USD in Seed Funding to Boost AI Features
Toronto-based Una Software has raised an additional $4.4 million USD ($6.1 million CAD) in seed funding to integrate new artificial intelligence capabilities into its financial planning and analysis platform. This all-equity round was led by Staircase Ventures, with participation from New York City’s Emerald Development Managers.
This latest capital injection increases Una’s total seed funding to $10 million USD ($13.9 million CAD), following a $7.5 million CAD round completed last December.
About Una Software
Founded in 2024 by Don Mal and Clayton Ramnarine, both former leaders at financial planning software company Vena Solutions, Una focuses on streamlining collaboration for enterprise finance teams. Its platform enables teams to track, forecast, and generate detailed reports on business financials across departments.
A company spokesperson noted that prior funding rounds included investments from angels, friends and family, and founders through simple agreements for future equity (SAFE). The new funds will primarily support ongoing product development and go-to-market efforts.
Enhancing Financial Planning with AI
Una recently introduced several AI-powered features designed to improve the finance team’s workflow:
- Conversational Co-Pilot: Allows users to query forecasts, budgets, and other financial data using natural language, simplifying data interaction.
- Predictive Forecasting: Provides more accurate, AI-driven financial predictions.
- Enhanced Action Tracker: A communication tool that helps teams monitor action items and progress toward financial goals.
Janet Bannister, managing partner at Staircase Ventures, emphasized that Una empowers CFOs to translate strategy into real-time results. She expressed confidence in the team’s ability to transform how finance leaders manage business performance.
Why This Matters for Finance Professionals
Financial planning and analysis teams face increasing pressure to deliver accurate forecasts and actionable insights quickly. Tools that enable natural language queries and track progress on financial goals can save time and reduce errors.
The integration of AI in Una’s platform supports more dynamic decision-making by helping teams interact with complex data intuitively and keep key stakeholders aligned.
