Valeo Opens AI Center in Cairo, Marks 20 Years in Egypt

Valeo inaugurated an artificial intelligence development center in Cairo on April 21, expanding its software engineering operations in Egypt. The automotive supplier now has over 50 engineers at the facility, with plans to grow to more than 100 specialists.

The center will focus on two objectives: accelerating AI integration across Valeo's global operations and building software tools for next-generation vehicle systems. Valeo operates more than 200 AI experts across its global network and maintains a dedicated AI research center.

Scale of Egyptian Operations

Valeo Egypt has grown substantially since opening in 2005. The site now employs 3,000 engineers and produces roughly 50% of the Valeo Group's global software output, making it the largest software research and development center in North Africa.

The company has distributed AI coding assistance tools to software engineers worldwide. As of the first quarter of 2026, 35% of all validated software code produced at Valeo uses AI.

Strategic Significance

Raafat Hendy, Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said the center reinforces Egypt's position as a research and development hub. Christophe PΓ©rillat, Valeo's chief executive officer, called the Cairo facility a pivotal step in the company's strategy to integrate AI into all engineering activities, particularly software development.

The announcement came with officials from Egypt's IT Industry Development Agency and Valeo's senior leadership present.

Relevance for Development Teams

For IT and development professionals, this expansion signals how major manufacturers are embedding AI into their software production workflows. Developers working with automotive software or enterprise systems may find value in exploring AI Coding Courses or Generative AI and LLM Courses to stay current with industry practices.
