Western Australia extends AI lesson-planning tool to more schools

Western Australia has allocated $4.6 million in its 2026-27 budget to expand ClassmAIte®, an AI tool that generates lesson plans and reduces teacher workloads. The program will extend through the end of 2027.

Sixty schools currently use ClassmAIte®. The state plans to bring more than 100 schools into the pilot by 2026.

The program launched in 2014 with joint funding from state and federal governments. It was co-designed with schools to develop what the government calls "responsible classroom-ready AI."

Teachers in education roles looking to understand how AI tools fit into classroom workflows may find value in exploring AI for Education resources, or considering formal training through an AI Learning Path for Teachers.
