Waycen partners with Daewoong Pharmaceutical to expand sales of AI endoscopy software in South Korea

Waycen announced on April 10 that it had signed a domestic sales consignment agreement with Daewoong Pharmaceutical for its AI endoscopy software WAYMED ENDO. The deal puts Daewoong's nationwide hospital sales network behind the product, a move expected to accelerate adoption across South Korean medical institutions.

The sales partnership

Under the agreement, Daewoong Pharmaceutical will handle domestic sales and marketing of WAYMED ENDO, while Waycen will oversee product development and technical support. The two companies plan to expand supply to tertiary general hospitals, general hospitals, health screening centers, and clinics.

AI endoscopy in practice

WAYMED ENDO is Korea's first AI-based real-time video analysis software for gastric and colonoscopic endoscopy. The AI analyzes endoscopic footage in real time to help medical staff detect lesions, including those hidden behind folds, along edges, or micro-lesions as small as 2 to 3 millimeters. It also automatically measures key quality indicators like examination time and withdrawal time, supporting quality control and improving work efficiency.

The software integrates with existing endoscopy equipment, so no device replacement is needed. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety designated it an innovative medical device in 2023.

Market reach and outlook

Waycen already supplies WAYMED ENDO to major domestic tertiary general hospitals, general hospitals, and health screening centers, as well as medical institutions in the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Thailand. With Daewoong's established sales force in the digestive disease field, adoption is expected to grow. Daewoong's sales team will bring WAYMED ENDO into its existing hospital relationships-a clear signal that AI for Sales is gaining ground in healthcare.

"Cooperation with Daewoong Pharmaceutical, which has expertise and sales capabilities in the digestive disease field, will be an important turning point in expanding the domestic AI endoscopy market," said Waycen CEO Kim Kyung-nam. "We will continue to advance our products and expand into domestic and overseas markets so that more medical institutions can utilize AI-based endoscopic diagnostic assistance solutions."

Daewoong Pharmaceutical CEO Lee Chang-jae said, "This cooperation is a meaningful starting point for expanding the digestive disease capabilities Daewoong Pharmaceutical has accumulated into AI endoscopy solutions. Based on the competitiveness of our existing products such as Fexuclue and Cleancol and our nationwide hospital sales network, we will expand our digital healthcare business and contribute to improving medical staff's examination environment and work efficiency."

Why this matters for sales professionals

This partnership illustrates how medical device and pharma sales teams are increasingly tasked with selling AI-driven products. Understanding the technology and its clinical value is becoming essential. Those who can position AI solutions within existing hospital workflows and procurement cycles will have an edge as more healthcare AI products reach the market.
