Writer raises $200M in Series C, hitting $1.9B valuation
Writer, an enterprise AI platform, closed a $200 million Series C funding round led by Premji Invest, Radical Ventures, and existing investor ICONIQ Growth. The round also included Salesforce Ventures, Adobe Ventures, B Capital, Citi Ventures, IBM Ventures, and Workday Ventures.
The San Francisco-based company, founded in 2020 by May Habib and Waseem Alsheikh, builds AI systems for mission-critical enterprise work. Hundreds of major companies now use Writer to deploy generative AI applications and agents that solve specific business problems.
How the funding will be used
Writer plans to accelerate development of autonomous AI solutions for complex enterprise scenarios. The company will focus on AI agents that can plan and execute workflows across multiple systems and teams.
The funding will also support expansion into healthcare, retail, and financial services-sectors where Writer sees demand for AI to automate time-consuming tasks.
Client base and growth
Writer's customers include Mars, Ally Bank, Family Bank, Franklin Templeton, Kenvue, Lennar, Prudential, Qualcomm, Salesforce, and Uber.
May Habib, CEO and co-founder, said the company is focused on building systems that deliver results, not just applications that perform tasks. Sandesh Patnam, managing partner at Premji Invest, said the firm invested because Writer is developing reliable and secure AI systems that give companies a path toward human-centric AI.
For professionals working with generative AI and large language models, Writer's platform represents one approach to deploying these tools at enterprise scale. Writers and content professionals may also find value in understanding how AI tools are being integrated into business workflows.
