Zoho Enhances Low-Code Platform with AI-Powered Development

Zoho, the Indian software company, has upgraded its low-code application development platform, Zoho Creator, by integrating new artificial intelligence (AI) features. The aim is to simplify and accelerate app creation through an AI assistant named CoCreator.

CoCreator uses voice and written prompts, process flows, and business specification documents to help build apps faster and more intuitively. It is powered by Zoho’s existing AI, Zia, which has been part of Zoho’s product ecosystem since 2015. Importantly, these AI capabilities come without additional costs to existing Zoho Creator subscribers.

Faster App Building with AI Assistance

Since Zoho Creator’s launch in 2006, the platform has focused on making app development straightforward and efficient. According to Veerakumar Natarajan, Country Head of Zoho Kenya, AI now shortens the path from concept to functioning app, improving speed without sacrificing quality or increasing expenses.

  • Idea-to-App Generation: This feature enables users to create complete applications using ZohoAI or OpenAI by submitting text or voice prompts, process diagrams, or software requirement specifications (SRS). The platform then suggests domain-specific fields and modules relevant to the user's business.
  • Contextual Suggestions: Zia proactively recommends fields within forms and lets developers generate or optimize code blocks within the app based on context. It also supports annotating existing code for easier future maintenance.

Additional AI-Driven Enhancements

  • Document Uploads: Extracts relevant information from uploaded documents directly into applications.
  • Voice-Based App Generation: Allows app creation from mobile devices using voice commands.
  • Custom AI Models: Supports deployment of tailored AI capabilities such as optical character recognition (OCR), prediction, and object detection within apps.

Established in 1996, Zoho offers cost-effective alternatives to cloud-based software from larger U.S. tech firms like Microsoft. These new AI features further empower developers and business users to build sophisticated applications with less manual effort.

For IT and product development professionals interested in expanding AI skills related to automation and app development, exploring tailored AI training and certification can be valuable. Resources such as Complete AI Training offer courses that align with the evolving demands in this space.
