AI agent for fine artists

Artwork Condition and Shipping Prep Agent

A shipment plan with the right packing, paperwork, insurance and carrier for each work

Artwork Condition and Shipping Prep Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Work is damaged or held at customs because packing, documentation or insurance is incomplete. This agent gathers each work's dimensions, medium, weight and value, then picks packing methods that suit the medium, such as a crate for glass or a tube for a rolled print. It requests carrier quotes, checks customs and insurance requirements for the destination, and builds a condition report template with photos. It compares quotes and checks that each one covers the packing method and the insured value. If a carrier rejects an item, it replans the packing and requests the quote again. The artist approves the shipment and the insured value. Edge case: a framed work with glass over a certain size may need acrylic glazing for air freight.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

A carrier is chosen when it accepts the item and packing, covers the insured value and meets the date, at the lowest total cost.

  • Pack by medium first, price second
  • Reject a quote that does not cover the insured value
  • Prefer the carrier with art handling experience for fragile work
  • Add customs documents for every cross-border shipment

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Preferred carriers
  • Insurance cover level
  • Packing options available
  • Documents required by destination

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Booking the carrier
  • Insured value and shipping cost

Hard limits

  • Never books or pays a carrier
  • Never states a customs rule without a source

It stops when

  • Done: shipment approved with all documents
  • Stop: no carrier accepts the work

An example run

What happensA 90 by 120 cm glass-fronted photograph was sold to a buyer in Berlin for $4,200. The first carrier rejected it for air freight because of the glass. The check failed, so the agent changed the packing to acrylic glazing in a foam-lined crate and requested two more quotes. One covered $4,200 for $380. The artist approved it.
