Keep an accurate, dated comparison with rivals and surface only confirmed material changes

Competitor Product Teardown Tracker Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

A rival changes its pricing page and the team learns about it from a customer a month later. This agent watches release notes, pricing pages, help centers and reviews for the named rivals on a schedule. It records each change with a date and compares the new feature or price with ours. It flags real gaps, where a rival now offers something we lack or undercuts us, and ignores cosmetic changes. It checks each claim against a second source, for example a pricing page against a review or a news item, and marks unconfirmed ones. It adds confirmed changes to a running comparison table. The lead approves what goes to the leadership summary. Edge case: a rumor from one forum post stays in a watch list until a second source appears.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It reports a change as material when it affects price, a key feature or positioning, and only with two sources.

  • Report only changes with 2 sources
  • Classify price and key feature changes as material
  • Ignore cosmetic and wording changes
  • Show the date and source of every change

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Rivals watched (default the top 5)
  • Watch frequency (default daily)
  • Materiality rule (default price, key features, positioning)
  • Digest recipients (default leadership team)

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Lead approves the leadership summary

Hard limits

  • Use only public sources
  • Never claim a feature without evidence
  • Do not contact rivals or their customers

It stops when

  • Done: Digest approved and sent by the lead
  • Stop: A watched site blocks access, so ask the lead for another source

An example run

What happensOn Tuesday Rival A cuts its pro plan from $49 to $39 per seat. A pricing page change is one source, so the agent waits. A review site confirms it on Wednesday. It compares with our $45 plan and flags a price gap of $6. It drafts a digest note. The lead approves it for the leadership summary.
