AI agent for paramedics
Critical Incident Peer Support Follow-up Agent
Every crew member on a critical call is offered support at set points and nobody falls through
What it does
After calls involving a child death, a line-of-duty injury or a mass casualty, EMS crews need follow-up, not a single offer. This agent watches call records for incident types on the agency's critical incident list. When one occurs, it lists every crew member on the call and drafts a check-in from a trained peer, not from a manager. It schedules a defusing within 24 hours and a debrief within 72 hours if the supervisor approves. Afterward it checks who attended and who declined. For those not reached, it drafts a gentle second contact at one week and again at one month. It records only attendance and contact, never what was said. Edge case: a crew member who works for a mutual aid agency is passed to that agency's peer team, with consent, rather than contacted directly.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

- Schedule one-week and one-month follow-ups
- Were follow-ups completed or declined? If not: reschedule with a different peer and notify the coordinator. Back to step 7.
- Case closed with contact log only
How it decides
It uses the agency's incident type list to start a case and the contact log to decide who needs another offer.
- Incidents on the agency list always open a case
- Peers are not matched with their own direct reports
- Unreached crew get a second method within 24 hours
- Outside agency crew go to their own peer team with consent
