AI agent for caregivers

Dementia Behavior and Sleep Pattern Agent

The caregiver has a clear pattern report, a small trial change and a result to bring to the doctor.

Dementia Behavior and Sleep Pattern Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Agitation and night waking can seem random, and the caregiver cannot show the doctor a clear pattern. The agent collects the daily log entries and links each episode to time of day, meals, medicine, visitors, noise and pain notes. It looks for repeating triggers, such as an episode after a late lunch, and suggests one small change to try. A week later it reads the new log and checks whether episodes dropped. If not, it tries another idea or reports no change. The caregiver approves what goes to the doctor. Edge case: a sudden change in behavior, which the agent flags for a call to the doctor rather than a routine change.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It looks for triggers that appear in at least half of the episodes, and judges a trial change by the drop in episodes over a full week.

  • Flag a sudden change or a fall for a doctor call
  • Suggest only one change at a time
  • Judge a change over 7 days
  • Do not suggest medicine changes

Make it yours

Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.

  • Episode types tracked
  • Review day
  • Number of days for judging a change (default 7)
  • Who receives the report

What keeps you in control

It always asks you first

  • Caregiver approves each trial change
  • Caregiver approves the report before it goes to the doctor

Hard limits

  • Never advise on medication
  • Do not replace a doctor's advice

It stops when

  • Done: pattern reported and trial result noted
  • Stop: a sudden change needs a doctor immediately

An example run

What happensIn 4 weeks the log shows 11 evening agitation episodes, 8 within an hour of a late afternoon visit. The agent suggests moving visits before 2 pm. The caregiver approves. A week later there are 5 episodes, still above the target. The agent looks again and finds 3 followed a noisy TV, so it suggests turning it off after 5 pm.
