AI agent for operations coordinators

Tour Itinerary Disruption Agent

A revised itinerary that is feasible end to end.

Tour Itinerary Disruption Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

When a tour stop closes or runs late, the rest of the itinerary can fall apart. When a disruption is reported, this agent identifies which stops are affected. It finds alternatives that are open, nearby and offer a similar experience, using documented opening times and travel allowances. After each change it recalculates the day's timing. If a replacement makes a later stop impossible, for example by eating the buffer before a train, it resequences the stops or flags a decision for the coordinator. The tour coordinator approves bookings, cancellations and messages to travelers. Edge case: no alternative is open within the time window, so the agent proposes a free-time block instead of forcing a stop.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

It chooses alternatives that keep downstream timings feasible and resequences otherwise.

  • Alternatives must be open, nearby and similar in experience.
  • Transfers keep their minimum buffer.
  • When no stop fits, propose free time instead of forcing one.
  • Bookings and cancellations need the coordinator's approval.

An example run

What happensOn May 7 a museum on a 28-person tour closes unexpectedly at 2pm. The agent picks a gallery 10 minutes away. The timing check fails because the gallery visit cuts the 30-minute transfer buffer to the 5:15pm train to 12 minutes. It swaps the order of the two afternoon stops instead, restoring a 35-minute buffer. The coordinator approves the booking and the traveler message.
