AI tool
Rungle
Rungle imports run stats from Apple Health or a screenshot, overlays them on photos, and suggests the best shot. It also provides reel templates and picture-shaped running courses for runners who create content.

About Rungle
Rungle is a free iPhone app that converts running data and media into formatted social posts. It imports distance, pace, heart rate, and other metrics from Apple Health or a screenshot of a user's existing running app, then places those stats onto photos using various overlay styles. The app also includes AI-assisted photo selection, Reel templates with filming guides, and a route-finding map feature called Running Courses.
Review
Rungle addresses a specific friction point for runners who document their activities: the post-run editing process. Rather than replacing a runner's tracking app, it sits downstream and handles the assembly of stats, photos, and video clips into a single shareable output. The app launched on the App Store on August 27 and began wider outreach on October 19, with features shaped by early user feedback.
Key Features
- Stat overlay import from multiple sources. The app pulls distance, pace, heart rate, calories, and elevation from Apple Health or reads them from a screenshot of your running app. Over 30 overlay styles are available for placing these metrics on photos.
- AI best cuts. When you have several similar photos from a run, this feature identifies which shot is most suitable for posting. It requires sign-in because processing occurs on Rungle's server, and the company states that photos and videos are deleted after processing completes.
- Reel templates with filming guides. Templates such as KM Splits (supporting both kilometers and miles), Running Man Freeze, Spider Shot, and Shoe Aura include instructions on what to film during a run so the required clips are available during editing.
- Running Courses. A map-based tool for finding picture-shaped routes-hearts, stars, dogs-and exporting them as GPX files. Coverage currently includes cities across South Korea, plus San Francisco and Seattle in the US.
Pricing and Value
Rungle is free. Users can add stats to photos without creating an account. AI-dependent features require sign-in due to server-side processing. The development team has not announced any paid tiers or future pricing changes at this stage.
Pros
- Imports from Apple Health or a screenshot, so users keep their current running app.
- Filming guides show which shots a template needs before the run starts, reducing missing-footage problems during editing.
- Running Courses offers GPX export for shape-based routes, a niche feature for runners who want visually distinctive route maps.
- No account required for basic stat overlays.
Cons
- AI best cuts and Reel templates require sign-in and server upload, which may not suit users who prefer entirely on-device processing.
- Running Courses coverage is limited to South Korea, San Francisco, and Seattle, making the feature unavailable for runners in most other regions.
- The app is not well suited for runners who don't create social content from their activities or who already have a manual editing workflow they prefer.
Rungle fits runners who regularly post run summaries and want to reduce the time spent switching between apps for stats, photos, and video assembly. The filming guides make it practical for those who plan their content before a run rather than improvising afterward. Users outside the current Running Courses coverage areas will find that feature unavailable until the map database expands.
