FateClear Solar Time MCP server

by a18565517703-ctrl

Let your AI convert clock time to true solar time and look up Chinese solar terms for any year.

This is a small helper that turns the time on your clock into true solar time for a given place, and looks up the exact moments of the 24 Chinese solar terms. It also knows the daylight saving rules China used between 1986 and 1991. It is handy if you work with BaZi birth charts, Chinese calendars, or any tool that needs the real local sun time rather than the clock on the wall.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to solar time and Chinese calendar calculations, so when you ask about a birth time or a solar term, the AI can actually work it out instead of guessing. You just type your question in plain words and the helper does the math behind the scenes.

What this MCP server does

You give your AI a date, a clock time, and a longitude. The AI passes those to this helper. The helper works out the longitude correction, the equation of time, and any daylight saving adjustment, then returns the true solar time for that spot. You can also ask it for the moments of the 24 Chinese solar terms in a year, or check whether a given Chinese clock time fell in daylight saving between 1986 and 1991. The answer comes back with each correction shown separately, so you can see how the number was reached.

What you can do with it

  • Convert a clock time and longitude into true solar time
  • See the longitude correction and equation of time in minutes
  • Look up all 24 Chinese solar terms for a given year
  • Find the exact moment of one solar term, like Start of Spring
  • Check China daylight saving status for a time between 1986 and 1991
  • Read the six-year China DST start and end table

Try asking your AI

  • “What is the true solar time for 12 March 1990 at 23:30, longitude 116.4 east?”
  • “List all 24 solar terms for the year 2026.”
  • “When is Start of Spring in 1990, in Beijing time and in UTC?”
  • “Was 16 September 1990 at 01:30 in China daylight saving time?”

What it gives back to you

You get back the true solar time as a date and time, plus the same moment in mean solar time and in UTC. It also lists each correction in minutes: longitude, equation of time, daylight saving, and the total. For solar terms you get a list with the Chinese name, the English name, and the time in Beijing and UTC. For daylight saving you get a status like standard, dst, nonexistent, or ambiguous.

Before you start

What you need

  • Node.js 18 or newer
  • Git and npx available on your computer
  • An MCP client that supports stdio, like the Claude desktop app

Good to know

The automatic daylight saving rules only cover China from 1986 to 1991, and times near a clock change can be ambiguous, so double-check important birth times yourself.

Install it with your AI

Add FateClear Solar Time MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed

You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.

Sign in to get the install prompt

Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check FateClear Solar Time MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,609 MCP servers here for you.
