Asterwise is an astrology and divination service. This helper connects your AI assistant to it, so you can ask for a birth chart, a daily panchanga, a compatibility check or a tarot draw in plain words. It is handy if you follow Vedic or Western astrology and want quick answers without opening a separate website.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an outside service. This one connects your AI to Asterwise, an astrology calculation service. Once it is connected, you ask a question in the chat and the AI quietly asks Asterwise for the numbers and meanings, then explains them back to you.
What this MCP server does
You type a request, like a birth chart for a date, time and place. Your AI sends that to the Asterwise helper, which passes it to the Asterwise service. Asterwise runs the astrology math and sends back positions, timings and classical interpretations. Your AI then writes the answer in the chat, in normal language, so you do not have to read raw tables.

What it gives back to you
You get answers written in the chat: chart placements, dasha periods with dates, panchanga timings, compatibility scores with notes, or a tarot reading. Some tools return lists or tables you can read straight away. Nothing is changed on your side; it is all information coming back to you.
Before you start
What you need
- A free Asterwise account and API key from asterwise.com/dashboard (the free tier gives 500 calls a month)
- An MCP-capable AI app such as Claude Desktop or Cursor
- Node.js installed if you use the npx mcp-remote setup
Good to know
It sends the birth details and questions you type to the Asterwise service, so avoid sharing information you would not want stored there.
