The Royal Marsden, a leading cancer research centre, has introduced a large-scale AI-powered radiology platform aimed at speeding up cancer detection and treatment through advanced medical imaging. This new platform focuses on enhancing the accuracy of evaluating various cancers, including sarcoma, lung, breast, brain, and prostate cancers.
By improving diagnostic precision and response times, the platform supports more targeted treatment approaches. This advancement holds promise for improving patient outcomes by enabling quicker and more accurate clinical decisions.
Collaborative Development and Support
The platform was developed in partnership with NTT DATA, which provided a machine learning operations (MLOps) platform and specialist imaging AI consulting services, and CAPRL.ai, an AI and MLOps platform. The project received funding from the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Research, the country’s largest health research funder.
This funding reflects growing confidence in AI’s role in identifying imaging biomarkers, which are critical for early cancer detection and treatment monitoring. The platform will be employed in research at The Royal Marsden and the Institute of Cancer Research, including collaborations with other research teams.
