Amazon Greenlights Three Animated Series Built With AI Tools
Amazon MGM Studios announced Wednesday that it has greenlit three animated series made with generative AI, marking the first projects from its new GenAI Creators' Fund. The shows-"Cupcake & Friends," "Love, Diana Music Hunters," and "Punky Duck"-will premiere on Prime Video.
The fund provides grants and access to professional AI production tools for digital creators and filmmakers who lack traditional studio resources. Amazon is backing the initiative with Project Nara, an AI production platform built on AWS infrastructure that handles video generation, editing, feedback and progress tracking in real time.
What the three series are about
"Cupcake & Friends," from BuzzFeed Studios, follows a cupcake and her friends navigating unexpected challenges at a sleepover. "Love, Diana Music Hunters," created by pocket.watch Chief Content Officer Albie Hecht, centers on a space-traveling K-pop group racing to save an alien planet through music. "Punky Duck," from creator Jorge R. Gutierrez, depicts a punk duck and his cat friend living in an alternate Los Angeles filled with alien invasions, monsters, and robot conspiracies.
How the fund works
The GenAI Creators' Fund accepts applications from established creators with digital audiences and technology startups solving production problems. It funds both proof-of-concepts and short-form content. Project Nara remains exclusive to Amazon MGM Studios and fund participants.
Albert Cheng, head of AI Studios at Amazon MGM Studios, said the fund positions "human creativity at the center" of the company's AI integration efforts. "Creative breakthroughs happen when visionary storytellers are given access to transformative tools," he said.

Amazon has assembled what AWS describes as the only end-to-end AI content creation ecosystem spanning infrastructure, creative tools, distribution and funding. The company last week launched Alexa Podcasts, an AI podcast generator.
