Anthropic Launches Design Tool, Deepens Government Ties

Anthropic released Claude Design this week, an experimental product that generates visual assets from text descriptions. The tool lets non-designers-founders, product managers, and others without design training-create prototypes, presentations, and one-pagers by typing natural language prompts into Claude Opus 4.7, the company's latest model.

The software exports to PDF and PowerPoint or integrates with Canva for further editing. It can also read a company's internal design files and code to apply consistent branding across outputs. The product is available now in research preview for paid Claude users.

The release signals Anthropic's shift toward enterprise productivity tools beyond conversational AI. The company has focused on making Claude useful for business workflows-a strategy that mirrors moves by competitors like OpenAI and Google.

Government Engagement Accelerates

Anthropic's CEO Dario Amodei recently met with senior U.S. government officials including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. The discussions covered AI safety, cybersecurity, and national competitiveness.

Co-founder Jack Clark said the company continues briefing government authorities on these topics. The meetings reflect growing alignment between AI development and policy priorities at the federal level.

The engagement occurs against a backdrop of ongoing friction. The Department of Defense has designated Anthropic a supply-chain risk, a classification the company disputes. Despite that disagreement, Anthropic maintains regular contact with government stakeholders across multiple agencies.
