Anthropic launches Claude Design, rattling Adobe and Figma

Anthropic introduced Claude Design on April 19, an AI tool that generates marketing assets, interactive prototypes and pitch decks from text prompts. The launch triggered immediate market reaction: Adobe shares fell 1.5 percent and Figma dropped 7 percent in secondary trading.

Claude Design runs on Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.7 model and is available at no additional cost to existing Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise subscribers. Users upload documents, images or codebase links, then refine the generated designs through inline comments and direct edits.

What it does

The tool automates several workflows marketers typically handle manually:

  • Converts static mockups into interactive prototypes for user testing without code review
  • Builds pitch decks from basic outlines
  • Generates landing pages and social media creatives
  • Creates marketing assets that designers can refine further

Claude Design analyzes a team's existing codebase and design files during setup to build a design framework. Subsequent projects automatically apply the company's color schemes, typography and components, ensuring brand consistency across outputs.

How it works

Users create a project on the Claude platform and provide context through documents or images. The tool generates an initial draft that can be iterated on using chat-based inputs and inline feedback.

Completed designs export as Canva files, PDFs, PowerPoint presentations or standalone HTML. Claude Design also integrates with Claude Code, Anthropic's coding assistant, allowing designers to hand off finalized work directly to developers.

What this means for marketers

The tool targets both professional designers and non-designers. For marketing teams, it reduces the time spent on asset creation-particularly useful for generating social media content, landing pages and pitch materials on tight deadlines.

Usage counts toward subscription limits, though users can purchase additional capacity. Enterprise deployments require administrative approval to activate the feature.
