A healthcare technology consortium led by Articura has formed in Indonesia to build a national AI platform for the country's health system. The initiative is designed to develop digital health infrastructure while maintaining national control over health data.
Articura signed memorandums of understanding with five organisations to establish the network. The partners include the Prof. Dr. Mahar Mardjono National Brain Center Hospital (RSPON), the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Padjadjaran (FF Unpad), paediatric care provider Axis Perifer Sentral, primary care provider Fokus Medika, and Orbiva Limited, a subsidiary of a Hong Kong-listed company.
The network will identify practical use cases for AI and test applications across different care settings, introducing digital solutions in phases. RSPON will provide specialist clinical leadership, while FF Unpad contributes academic and pharmaceutical expertise. Axis Perifer Sentral and Fokus Medika bring practical experience in paediatric and primary care. Orbiva contributes international experience in healthcare AI and artificial intelligence of Things-enabled home healthcare. The consortium is building what it calls a Sovereign Healthcare AI Platform to bring AI infrastructure and clinical applications into a single environment tailored to Indonesian clinical realities. National AI Healthcare Lab
Articura also announced plans to establish the National AI Healthcare Lab. Articura described it as a living demonstration, validation, innovation, and education environment where healthcare professionals, researchers, and technology partners can develop AI models, validate use cases, and turn concepts into clinical applications. The lab is intended as a collaborative centre for Indonesia's healthcare AI community.
Initial platform capabilities will draw on Articura's existing AI infrastructure and modular clinical software. The system is designed for large hospitals, regional facilities, and clinics, and includes tools for clinical documentation, clinical decision-making, hospital operations, and remote health monitoring. Articura said the network would prioritise clinical safety, human oversight, and data sovereignty.
International context
Indonesia has pursued international partnerships to accelerate the digital transformation of its health system. In April, the Indonesian and South Korean governments announced plans to pilot AI-based teleconsultation services. Earlier this year, Australia Awards fellows introduced a digital health innovation toolkit now integrated into the Indonesian Ministry of Health's regulatory sandbox. In January, the ministry signed a tripartite agreement to establish the Joint Laboratory for Digital Medicine and Proactive Health, which will study the safe use of digital technologies including AI in medicine. These efforts align with broader strategies in AI for Healthcare, particularly around infrastructure and governance.
