President Donald Trump has directed every federal agency to immediately stop using technology from AI developer Anthropic. Trump announced the order on Truth Social, saying the government doesn't need the company's tools and will not do business with it again. Hegseth said Anthropic's relationship with the armed forces and the federal government has been permanently altered.
Hegseth said Anthropic will continue providing services to the Department of War for no more than six months to allow for a transition to another provider. "America's warfighters will never be held hostage by the ideological whims of Big Tech," he said, adding that the decision is final.
